Submit a Paper to Turnitin Online

HFU’s Turnitin license for Canvas includes the option for faculty to submit papers directly to turnitin.com, bypassing Canvas altogether. This can be useful when you want an originality report for a paper that may not have been submitted through a Turnitin enabled assignment in Canvas.

Submitting directly to turnitin.com will generate an originality report for you (a faculty member), but will not submit the assignment to Canvas nor will it be viewable by the student (unless you download and share the results).

  1. Go to www.turnitin.com
  2. Click Login
  3. Login with your Holy Family email address and email password
(If you can’t log in with your HFU information, send an email to¬†tiisupport@turnitin.com)
  4. Click on the name of your course in All Classes (Must be an “Active” course)
(If you don’t have an active course, you can create one by clicking the green, + Add Class button. This creates a dummy course within Turnitin.)
  5. Click the Add Assignment button (This assignment will not appear in Canvas)
  6. Choose Paper Assignment then click Next Step
  7. Fill in the assignment details and click Submit (This will take you to the Class Homepage)
  8. On the Class Homepage, click More Actions next to the assignment you just created and choose Submit
  9. Fill in the appropriate fields (Choose Non-enrolled student)
  10. Click Choose from this computer to upload a document from your desktop and then Upload
  11. Click Confirm
  12. Click Go to assignment inbox (refresh this page to see Originality Report. This may take 2-10 minutes or longer depending on the size of the paper.)
